“Topo Centras”, a retailer specializing in household appliances and electronics, has further modernized their equipment with brand new self-checkout terminals. These machines are not the only new thing, however, as electronic price tags have replaced the usual paper versions. These innovations are only available at the store located in Ukmergės g. 240, Vilnius, but the company is promising to invest 1.5 million into renovating their outlets around the country this year.
This “new era” upgrade is expected to reduce costs and increase service efficiency. Additionally, what makes the self-checkouts of “Topo Centras” unique in Lithuania is the option to order a product not available in store.
The Adeo Web team had the pleasure to work with “Topo Centras” in achieving their goal. Our programmers tuned and customized the e-shop of “Topo Centras” for the new self-checkout terminals and made other small but important tweaks on them such as adjusting the credit card machines and printers. One of the bigger improvements was mPOS (mobile point of save) which allowed wireless devices such as mobile phones or tablets function as cash registers. Our team also upgraded the terminals to ReactPHP barcode scanners so that the scanning process would become much faster.
Although such changes may intimidate some more in favor of keeping everything the way it’s always been, “Topo Centras” is moving forward with sights set on a modern approach to the shopping experience.
